New Balance 1500 Running Shoe

New Balance 1500 Running Shoe

– As part of my training for the Berlin Marathon and the 12 Week Challenge I have been road testing, quite literally, the new New Balance 1500 running shoe and after a month of running these shoes in I must say that i’m enjoying the ride.

The New Balance 1500 is a narrow low-profile performance running shoe with a road racing flat design ideal for distances from 5K up to marathon. The shoes are probably the lightest that I have ever worn weighing in at just over 225g each for my size shoe which is a 10 UK. My previous Asics had a little more padding and were softer on the feet, that also meant they were heavier. You put on the New Balance 1500 and they scream for speed!

They’ve been built for uptempo training and long distance races, featuring a lightweight midsole which offers ample cushioning and flexibility.  TPU welds in a breathable layered mesh upper provides a seamless fit that secures your feet snuggly.

The sole of the 1500 is firm and some might find a little unforgiving on longer runs but still cushions enough, especially in the heel. With a full outsole that has amazing grip thanks to the tiny rubber ‘plugs’ that cover the whole of the forefoot, perfect for fast sprint starts and Fartlek training.

Tiny ‘plugs’ on the forefoot provide excellent grip

All this gives them a light-and-fast demeanour, they’re agile, energetic and that construction makes you want to run faster. That snug fit will hold to the road and your feet even on the most demanding road course.

Oh and did I mention the colour? Wow, I love the style of these shoes, it’s not just that they are so lightweight and well made but the colour and style is a killer selling point for me. I don’t see the point in running in dull shoes and these are as far from dull as you can get.

These shoes look and seem like a great fit for me and the kind of shoe I have been looking for. They definitely have a nice look to them aesthetically, and more importantly, they appear to be of great quality! Hopefully, these will not let me down. Thanks for sharing.
