GN Whey Protein 80

GN Whey Protein 80

I’m getting back into my training again after a few months out (for various reasons which I’ll cover in a separate blog post) and I wont lie it’s been a bit of a struggle, but I also had a couple of products that I needed to road test and that seemed like a good a reason as any to motivate myself to head back the to gym.

The first on my list is from GoNutrition and their highly customer rated GN Whey Protein 80 which comes in a staggering choice of flavours, which I’ll reel off now: Black Forest Gateau, Blueberry Cheesecake, Caffe Latte, Chocolate Orange, Chocolate Peppermint Snaps, Jammie Biscuit, Key Lime Pie, Maple Syrup & Pancake, Rhubarb & Custard Sweets, Simply Banana, Strawberries & Whipped Cream, Triple Chocolate, Turkish Delight, Vanilla Ice Cream and finally for the purests amongst you – Unflavoured.

Feeling a little reminiscent of my child hood and the Sunday lunches at my grandparents  I opted for the post Sunday roast treat of Black Forest Gateau (is Sarah Lee still around?). Although not quite to the high standards and rose tinted memories of my favourite child hood dessert the flavour did bring back some fond memories. Fair play to GoNutrition for getting the flavour pretty spot on without it tasting to artificially sweet and chemically flavoured.

I mixed the powder using my ShakeSphere shaker and had no problem with it mixing with either milk or water. For this flavour however I personally preferred using water. It blended really well and tasted great – i’m a little fussy when it comes to artificial flavourings and additives so I was happy that there is none of that here even at the low price GoNutrition market the GN Whey Protein 80.

There’s no complexity here in the Whey Protein 80 it is exactly what it says it is, the ingredients are pretty basic. It’s primarily whey with natural flavourings depending on your flavour, so if you’re looking for something with Amino Acid complexity or other additions like Flaxseed, Green Tea or even some fibre you’ll be disappointed.

That said, 80g of pure protein per 100g at a price point of £10 for 500g is pretty impressive. There are a number of different size options available right up to a massive 4.5kg but what I love most are the choice of flavours – using the GN Whey Protein 80 as your standard base whey protein (for which to add Creatine, Maltodextrin, Oats etc.)  you have plenty of options so as to never get taste bored.
