Tough Mudder

Bring on Tough Mudder!

– Team My Gym (Georgia, Mark, Ryan, Matt and myself) are going to be attempting our first Tough Mudder this summer. We’ll be taking part in the London South challenge on Saturday September 16th and we’re a little nervous.

What is Tough Mudder?

For those of you that don’t know, Tough Mudder is a 10 – 12 mile long obstacle course that will test both your mental and physical strength. Over three million people have taken part in the challenge and it has grown to something of a cult status with events happening all over the world.

The main ethos behind the series is that it’s not a race. It doesn’t matter who finishes first. Instead the focus is simply to just finish the course and more importantly, to finish it will your team mates by your side. It’s about team work, camaraderie and putting others above yourself. It’s a powerful component of the events and one that has helped it gain its phenomenal popularity.

The Training Plan – Week 1

Each week for the next six weeks we’ll be sharing the training plan that we’ll be following. It’s been lovingly  created by Stuart Amory, Personal Trainer at For Goodness Shakes.

The aim of the training plan is straight forward. Focusing both on strength and cardio exercise elements to build up an all round level of  fitness to enable you to complete your first Tough Mudder event. With a little help from your team mates of course!
